Stealing gold from scrap gold centre
I was terrified when I found out that my thirteen-year-old daughter had been arrested for stealing some jewellery from a scrap gold centre in our town. She explained that it happened as she had been provoked by some older friends she admires. She wanted to do it to join them and be a part of teenage community. It was a kind of test of her dedication to the group. However, when she wanted to leave the shop carrying some scrap gold the guard noticed fear in her eyes and stopped her at the gate. The police was called to the
scrap gold centre and she was taken to the police station. Then, they called me at my office and told me to come to pick her up. I was horrified after the phone call and when I saw my small child standing at the police station with handcuffs around her wrists I started crying. It was the worst day of my whole life. After we went back home my daughter was too afraid to talk to me and she cried all evening. Only after two days we managed to talk about what happened. My husband and I decided that she has to change school and take up some sport or hobby to find more responsible and sensible friends. I"m worried about her future but we all must learn to live with it. But I feel that I failed as a mother and her friend I have to mend the relationship with my daughter.
